Haruka Kanzaki, the elder sister of Ryoichi Kanzaki, was killed before Ryoichi's eyes as he lay half-dead and severely injured on the ground while attempting to defend her. The order for the attack came from House Tajikara, although this remains a secret. The motive for the attack was the death of Goro Tajikara at the hands of Ryo Kanzaki.
